How do I turn DHCP services off on a Windows NT 4.x server?
In the DHCP Admin tool (DHCPADMN.EXE), just disable the scope.
that's all there is to it ?
Yup - if I'm lyin' I'm dyin'!
That will prevent the machine from passing out addresses. The service will still be running on the server, tho. If you want to actually kill the service as well, just stop it from the services icon in the control panel.
Yeah, you may not want to delete the scope since you may need to go back to it eventually. I'd just disable the service.

how do i Disable it?
Open the Services applet in Control Panel. Find the DHCP Server service, double click on it. Change the startup type to disabled and then stop the service.

No problem GG. Let me know if you have any other issues with your server(s). I spend way too much time on them at work (someone should benefit).![]()
