    Unhappy

the past few days i've noticed that people
try way way way too hard to look a certain
    way.

for instance: tuesday, i went to see one
of my favorite bands of all time, nine inch
nails. now, i was expecting to see some
people in black latex and such, but damn..
i wouldnt be surprised if some of the
people there spent a good three hours trying
to get like that. it makes no sense, to me
    anyways.

today i went to a store called 'hot topic'
which i suppose is supposed to be more of
a punk/goth type store. the cashier there
was so fake. it was so obvious (to someone
who would know what to look for) that he
didnt really want to look like that, but was
just doing it for fashion. its sickening.
dumb rich kid with fifteen piercings in the
face, real silver and crap nonetheless.

i guess im just expecting too much out of
people, although how much is it to just be
    yourself?

I've been going to Punk/Hardcore shows since 1981. I've never had a mohawk or wear stupid punk clothes. (I could run for Congress and you'd never know what kind of tunes I listen to) What I don't understand is why you are ripping on somebody who is just as fashion-dependant for an identity as yourself. 9"Nails???!!! How alternative!!

my post was aimed at those who have to work
to get that look. it's not really them. they
dont mean it. they're doing it for the
fashion. they're doing it because they think
its expected of them, sort of.

you said it yourself, you've been going to
punk and hardcore shows since the early 80's
but you dont have a mohawk or anything,
that shows that you're being yourself, which
is what i wish the rest of these people
    would do.

i can guarantee that 70% of the people at
the show who were all 'goth' did it for the
fashion sake of it, not because its who they
    are.

Sounds to me like you are ticked off because, your "original" look ain't so original anymore. You had better go find another way to be "different". I feel for you dude.
