Which guy is it? Nobody in that picture is doing anything particularly bone-headed. It must have been taken too late.

Hell I was ready to catch a flight to O'Hare and take the El to beat him down!

Bastard better be banging his head on the wall and show up with a black eye to work or else he's gonna get some unwanted personal attention from all his co-workers.

Maybe if the Cubs would have lost by one run, but the score was 8-3 right? Oh well, everyone needs someone to blame.

Of course you can never really tell what would have happened if this had changed, but I would assume if Alou catches it, there's 2 outs, the Marlins score 2 runs, and then there's a fly out to right, 3 outs. Cubs lead 3-2.

I disagree kb0wwp... that really just made the cubbies lose focus and couldn't regain the momentum they had earlier... I'm sure they were so close they could taste it and then that incident caused them to get a bit distracted. I think they could have won if not for that play.... the sacrifice fly ball would have been out #3

Yeah, you're right. Something like that could certainly afftect the play for the remainder of the game. I home the Cubs win game 7, so this guy can still have a life. I probably would have done the same thing if I were sitting there.

Yes, but at this point you've got to blame the players and the coach, not the fan. These are professionals who should not be getting rattled by a distraction such as this. And its Dusty Baker's responsibility as a coach to see that the players do indeed maintain their focus if they do get distracted. Blaming the fan for all the runs scored is really just looking for a scapegoat, IMHO. A good team shouldn't be giving up an 8 run inning because of a distraction, even if it did cost a couple of the runs.
Common sense is what tells you the Earth is flat.

Anyway, the other play that bothered me was Alex Gonzalaz's error. The reason he made it was because he was trying to hurry to turn a double play. Had there been two outs, he would have hopefully taken a bit more time.

That could be true and the base wouldn't be loaded either.
