What the hell do they think this is, Ebay? Why do people think their request is more important than any other. I'm serious, this request thing has been getting more and more ridiculous. First it was codes or good prices on comps and electronics. Fine, no problem, I just wish they would use the search function more often, but hey, not a perfect world. Yesterday, someone was asking about a HOUSE!! A freaking house. That's amazing. And a Lexus the day before that...I mean, I guess I should be more tolerant, but come on...

You complain too much. We all come here to find good deals and to lend a helping hand to others who are in search of good deals.

GOOD THING I'M NOT A RETARD

hey fuz, do you get one of those blue signs to hang on your rearview mirror or do retards have to park like the rest of us?
-
-
Did you have to ride on the "little-ass bus"? "And they left at 2:30, just so if they went crazy, they'd only hurt other crazy kids!"
-
-
-
A somewhat serious side-note...do mentally handicapped people qualify for the premium parking passes?
-

That is flarking funny! I had one too (a power wheels, not a midgit). They were pretty cool, but I kept on frying the high speed switch. I still don't know what I did with it. You know, we always wanted to build a power wheels type vehicle in college, but we kept on building military-grade potato cannons...

Not to get to serious about this or anything... But no, mentally handicapped people do not get special parking or does their family or caregivers.
Lemme tell you a story. My family (mom, dad, and my brother) came to CA visit me from IL. We went down to Knott's Berry Farm with my kids and stayed on Beach Blvd in a hotel. We walked down to Claim Jumpers for dinner. On the way back to the hotel, we past a couple of kids. Young guys, dressed in baggy pants and periced noses..the whole trendy thing.
As they past my brother, they laughed and joked to each other, "what is wrong with that retard??"
You know... I can't stand that word. A retard is someone who can't help themselves. A retard is someone who doesn't know any better. That is not my brother. My brother is nothing like what you have said here and nothing to laugh at.
At the age of 20 years, my brother graduated high school. The last semester he made honor roll. And you know what? He is going to go to collage.
Next time you use that word, think about it.

crabbie: I understand your sensitivity to the term "retard". With a family member that's mentally handicapped, of course it strikes too close to home. However, I think the word "retard", while it may have it's origins with references to the mentally handicapped, has now come to mean (for me, anyway, who was the unfortunate enough to be the original poster) to mean someone that CAN help themselves. I mean a person that has the opportunity to be otherwise, but intentionally chooses ignorance. I think this understandning, your experience with those two true retards at the Claim Jumpers notwithstanding, is the generally understood term today. I don't think we even call the mentally handicapped retards anymore; actually, don't we call them mentally challenged? Whatever, I'm sorry to see you've reacted badly to this, but no harm is intended. It's a word that has negative roots, but like the origin of the "rule of thumb", we mean it to be something totally different now.

You are correct in saying that some are catagorized by the state as mentally challenged. But only if the IQ is at a certain level. They can still be catagorized mentally retarded if the IQ is low enough.
Sorry to dampen it.. it probably wouldn't have been so 'close to home' if that just didn't happen.

Oh, I know what yer talkin' about now...like an ATV, n'est-ce pas?
-
we obviously werent bashing people who are handicapped mentally, so why dont you shut the hell up. i am so sick of people being so overly sensitive about words. if i ever call your brother a retard i'll listen to whatever you have to say, but until then, give it a break. your brother is obviously not being held back by his handicap so why dont you drop yours.
