Thread: Runaway Jury

    Runaway Jury

I was lucky enough to see an advanced screening of Runaway Jury several months ago, which is coincidentally my favorite John Grisham book and is coincidentally being released today =D

Hopefully the only changes they made to the movie were from the music standpoint, as I felt that the advance that I watched was good from all aspects.

I am not saying this movie was absolutely amazing from every angle and I am not saying that it will win dozens of awards, but it was a great adaptation from the book and it had a good balance of dialogue, suspense and even a bit of action.

I would highly recommend seeing it in the theaters, as it's well worth the money imho. I will be seeing it tonight and will post my feedback and note any changes that they may have made.

The only thing you really need to know about the plot that is different in the movie, than in the book, is that the book was based around the Tobacco industry and the movie was altered to reflect the growing debate in the Gun industry.

The only thing they added to the movie was the music. I'm glad that they didn't change it!

The show my friend and I went to see was sold out, which was pretty surprising. And, as the credits began people actually clapped and cheered

I saw it last night. Good acting and very suspenseful, but what a bunch of anti-gun nonsense.

Typical of liberal Hollywood and their hypocritical stance against guns.

Nah, i don't think it's Hollywood at all. If you read the book they go through the whole Tobacco industry thing. When the book was first written, NOBODY had won a lawsuit against the Tobacco industry. But when they started the production on this movie about 8 years ago, during that course of time the tobacco industry started losing lawsuits...That is why the movie adaptation focused on the gun industry because nobody has ever won a case against them. I guess you can say it was typical Hollywood because they changed the underlying industry to earn more money, but at the same time they wanted to produce a movie that was a new, but conceivable, idea.

I'm not arguing against you, just want to point out why they did what they did. I could be totally wrong, by the way, but it seems everybody has been running out of ideas for a good movie. Everything has been sequels lately and i'm glad some firms are trying to rekindle the whole idea of writing a good screenplay and creating something more original. In this regard, i think that the story was very original since nobody has ever beaten the gun industry.

Sorry, but a story about a frivolous lawsuit is nothing new. As a matter of fact, it's getting old and to me it stinks to high heaven.
