    2nd email:
    Hello

Well i need the money fast so i guess i will accept your offer for 650 $ .

Here is how i want to go about payment and delivery :

You have to send me your full name and adress.
After that i will go to the UPS store and leave the package there for you.I
will give them your name and adress and the package for you.
They will verify the product to see that everything is ok.Also the legal
    papers.
After that they will send you an email containing a payment verification
    form.
You will have to fill that form.
You must go to an Western Union Office and make a deposit on the amount we
agreed on my name. And then fill the form from UPS with the details about the
payment (MTCN, name and so on.)
UPS will verify if the money is deposited on my name at Western Union and if
everything checks they will send you the laptop.
After the laptop arrives to you if you are fully satisfied with it and
everything is ok you will notify UPS that all is ok and only then they will send me
the details of the payment so that i can collect my money.
This is the safest way for the both of us.
Let me know if still interested as soon as posible.

And what a scam, last i checked, the 8500
    1. Came with a DVD+RW drive, not a -RW
    2. the 15.1 SXGA+ is actually a 15.4 WSXGA+ and has a resolution of 1680*1050
    3. and i've never seen a 70gig drive, only 60gig and 80gig

small stuff, but should tell you something bout the seller.

If you ever have to ask if it's a scam, don't go near it. Yes, it might sound like a good deal and it is tempting, but ask yourself this: Can I afford to lose $600?

If you say yes, then send me the money.

    stay far, far away.

1.) don't accept offers from people who "solicit" you.
2.) don't accept offers from people who don't even know the specs of the machine they are selling you.
3.) don't accept offers from people with STRANGE payment arrangements, especially those involving money orders.
4.) don't accept offers from people who can't correctly spell the word "characteristics" in a business email.

He did mention it was the UPS Store, which is Mailboxes Etc. I wouldn't be surprised if they offer a service like this.

    BUT... It's still a scam.

Scam. I've bidded on E-bay and get emails later saying don't win the auction because they can give me the item cheaper. Just send them some money first to see that I'm serious and they promise of their mother's grave to send you whatever.

Damn, they must have lots of bridges for sale in NY because I know someone else who just bought one. Suppoisedly its the original Brooklyn Bridge. The person figured that it would have some worth in the future.
Welcome my son, welcome to the machine...Where have you been? It's alright we know where you've been....

After the laptop arrives to you if you are fully satisfied with it and
everything is ok you will notify UPS that all is ok and only then they will send me
the details of the payment so that i can collect my money.

After that, my contact in Nigeria will be getting in touch with you so you can help him arrange to move $50,000,000 out of the country.
    Yeah, sounds like a scam.
    stay low... keep moving...

Dude, if he's offering any OS, I'd take it. Just ask him to put Microsoft Bob on it, or maybe OS/2. Sorry, nerd joke of yesteryear.
