So, I have been dealing with this $50 GC that I was supposed to get from Buy.com for driving (any incidentally, buying) an Oldsmobile Silhouette. I finally get the GC 4 months after the fact, and can you believe it, the darn thing didn't work - "it had already been deposited into an account".

So, I'm on the horn to Buy.com customer service right away, probably talked to 6 different reps and two supervisors. They finally verify that I'm not making this up, and agree to get me another one. Well, by this time the clearance RAM I wanted was sold out and next best was $30 more expensive. So, I'm back on the phone getting the supervisor to agree to give me an $80 credit, instead of $50 and free shipping too.

Then, I check my e-mail today - guess what - another $50.00 GC. Hoooray!! And, incidentally Oldsmobile sent me the $50 Blockbuster Card cuz I raised hell with them too. So, a total of $130.00 for my test drive experience. Of course, that doesn't even touch one monthly payment so I don't feel too bad for them.

Just wanted to give some KUDOS to Buy.com for honoring their commitment and providing good customer service.

Could be why they're tanking, profit-wise. But I agree, buy has been mighty fair with me and with people I know that have bought from them. I think the sentiment on this board in particular is predominately favourable. I just wish they could do it profitably, if their level of customer service has anything to do with it.

I love buy.com. They're prices even without coupons are low.

Buy has got to be one of the best retail sites on the 'net...probably why they are losing so much cash...one gripe I have though, their descriptions usually aren't very good--I bought 100 verbatim 12x cdrs with the impression that they came with jewels (the picture in the description had a cdr and a jewel case) for $67. However, when they arrived, it was 2 50cd spindles--I could have gotten spindle cds much cheaper elsewhere. I complained, and they said there was nothing they could do, but they would take the picture off the description. So I figure i'll keep buying from them...

I agree - hopefully they will stay in business. I'll definitely keep buying from them.
