The local BMW dealer will only have 8 2001 M3 at the end of this year and there are already 12 people on the pre-ordered list. That means if I REALLY want, I can only hope on getting it next year. Blah!

I have never, and will never, understand the allure of BMW's, ESPECIALLY the M3.

the slk is too small and the bmw isnt?
the bmw has 47cubic inches of interior room and the slk has 50. overall the bmw is only an inch longer, i dont know how you can feel cramped in one and not the other.

Although the slk and boxster are good recommendations, they are in a complete different class from the m3. If you want something in the similar range, check out the MB CLK 430, they even have an AMG version in the works, only problem is that they are autos. . . unless if you're into that. . . /me prefer manual.

What the!?! Are you guys serious? The M3 is like the ultimate car!
The boxter is tooo slow, and the slk is a stub.
    Complete different classes.

I actually went to test drive a 2000 non-AMG CLK. The steering is too slow for sporty driving. The power windows is surprising slow. Plus it is more expansive than M3 but with less HP (M3: 330hp, CLK: 275hp). It's still a great car but I think generally overall M3 is better. I also prefer manual. That's what driving is all about. For boxter, I haven't had the chance to drive it but according to the reviews, it ain't as fast as one would expect. At last, for some weird reason, chicks dig beemer. Perhaps for its sporty appearance or the vroom vroom sound, I don't know. Including all those, I think that's why BMW set itself different than the others.

All the more power to ya, fellow Bimmer fan.

BTW, was that a 320 or 430 clk? The 430 is very nice for a benz.

I do believe the CLK55 will come in 6-speed manual.

Just step on up and get an M5, a manly car. M3 is good and all, but its a boy racer car. That or the MB E55, a true wolf in sheeps clothing. Personally, I would go for a new 540 and then have it massaged by Dinan and then scrape the emblems... someday.... someday!

BTW, Have you seen the waiting list for the CLK's...? Much worse than the M's. (basically an auction!)

We are getting a CL 55 sometime in October, and I believe it is coming with M-B's tiptronic. Same one in the ML 55. It's alright, seeings as I can't drive manual . I still don't understand the allure of having a badass sedan. Either get a sports car or a luxury sedan. Otherwise, it's just silly.

Heh, all of those cars got damn waiting lists. . . M5, M3, E55, CL55. . . that's why you gotta get a stock bimmer like phlick said and take it to Dinan or AC Shnitzer. Or go MB, and take it down to RennTech. . . mmmmm E65. . .

The highest bidder! All m3 and m5 models are already spoken for for the next year.
