    Suckage: friends who can't drive

Seriously! I am 20 years old, you'd THINK that all my friends would have their licenses now. But no, why do I always pick the losers to be my friends that either have suspended licenses, and worse; never got their license in the first place!

You can never "meet up" at the mall, or at the movies with these people, you must drive ALL the way to their house to pick them up, go all the way back to where you wanted to go in the first place, drive them all the way home, and then drive yourself all the way back home. Can we say annoying? And, if your friends are anything like mine, they never offer to give me gas money! Now, here comes the secnod part of the dilemma: If you choose to NOT drive around a certain friend, then you never get to see him/her! Ahhh!

I'm getting very sick of putting the wear and tear on my vehicle, as well as wasting gas on these people who cannot drive!

    SCREW THEM ALL!

    sounds like you're getting "used"

I think your friends need to start paying you to drive them around. Charge them 36.5 cents/mile. That should cover the depreciation of your car and the gas.

When I was in high school, i was one of the first in my class to get a car, so i naturally drove my friends here and there. I had no problem with that...once my friends did get their licenses, i also realized that most of them couldn't drive and were typically not safe...therefore i usually ended up driving anyway because their driving scared the crap out of me.

That's waht I'm sayin'! This girl shannon I know uses the bus to go everywhere. BUT when we're going out I have to drive!

I don't know if this is how it works in all city's but where she lives she has to catch the bus from her house, ride downtown and then catch another bus back OUT of town so she can get to my house. it's really lame. There are only "going in town" and "going out of town" buses.

In any relationship there must be give and take. To not even offer anything in return...

Allow moochers to take advantage of you, they'll continue to do so. {A few of them even get worse.} Some need a firm hint to get the idea to stop sponging. Others, however, will be that way throughout life.

    Can I be your friend?

I, personally, got mine about 3 years ago.

    I'm 24 now.

I, couldn't/can't, ever afford a car, so I never really saw a reason to go out and get one. There's no point. Oooooo spending money on something that I will probably never get to use. I, however, did pitch in for gas on trips, and if my friends wouldn't take the money, I would usually pay for their way, to whatever we were doing. Hell sometimes I'd be obvious and say, "Dude, I need a ride somewhere, I'll give ya $5 to take me there"

24?? That's nothing.. Try 31...with no license... Yes she is pregnant and has a 6 year old...?? I would get my license for my kids sake.. U know, emergencies, hospitals, etc. She says her husband doesn't want her to get one....

I have a friend who didnt get her license until she was 26ish. She had tried to learn how to drive a couple of times but never could master it and was scared of driving. Now she has it and loves driving.

I also have a few of my friends who never drove anywhere even though they had their licenses. The problem was that they didnt have cars. Fortunately for me they would chip in for gas or give me some thing.

Yes, it sucks, but just bring up the subject and they will see the error of their ways. If not, just tell them you are low on gas and cant get them unless they give you some funds.
Welcome my son, welcome to the machine...Where have you been? It's alright we know where you've been....
