    GA'ers in Las Vegas

I am here for a couple days for training for my company and I was wondering if any GA'ers were in Vegas that might be willing to show me around. My co-workers all have families and I do not know anybody here.

I just started this job last wednesday, while it may pay pretty damn well, I was a student and still am poor as a student...so...um...no.

Although tips for tours can be paid in either computer hardware in a future date or a nice meal on me.

Well, monte carlo has a brewery that has some nice beer and no cover to get in. Last time I went there the drummer from No Doubt was there performing with the band that was playing. The crowed that I normally see there is an older 20's crowd.

RA is always cool to go to. So is the Palms! That is where friends tend to go. Rain and the Ice bar there are really fun and they constantly have happenings going on.

Red Rock out by summerlin is really cool if you like nature/biking/hiking.

Then of course, you can visit me on base http://www.nellisairshow.com/ next weekend.

Oh, and if you are into dumb extreme thrill rides (don't get me wrong, I love coasters and such), the stratosphere just opened up thier new ride where it drops you off the top of the building like a teeter totter. Don't trust the thing myself.

Then, yeah, the Hoover dam is always cool to see and if you get a DAY, and I mean a DAY, take the car and drive to the grand canyon or take a air tour of it.

Oh and if you really like GOOD german beer, there is a little spot in the 600 block of E. Sahara behind Marie Callender's and Tony Roma's. It is in the strip mall back there. Go in (only open until 8 pm) and turn to the right -- that is where the bar is. Spaten (yum!) and many others served by a really great guy! And the food is awsome! Be prepaired to drop some money - a dinner plate will run you close to $19-20 but you can eat from the bar menu too (brats and stuff) for closer to $10. You have to eat to be served beer but you can buy beer to go (which is a good thing - price drops a lot when you take the beer to go)

Check out the Bellagio Buffet and the water show. Wax figurines at the Venetian are pretty cool too. And if you like blackjack, i'd recommend Monte Carlo - dealer stands on soft-17, surrender available, and you can double on anything. Plus they don't use those BS autoshufflers after every hand like some of the others are doing now.

OK, here's all you need to know: go to either the Stratosphere or the MGM Grand and find Fat Tuesday. Order the largest 180 Octane they make and pay the $1 for the extra shot of Everclear. You will be feeling all warm and fuzzy after one of those and if you're a lightweight, probably even a little drunk.

Yeah yeah, I actually want you to pay for a drink.

I am not much of a gambler, I started getting into blackjack because a friend of mine was going through the "tables" with me, so I have memorized some of them but I am not confident enough in my "skills" to risk money when I dont have much spare income after just getting out of school and paying for a new apartment, clothes and such. Mostly I like to people watch others, reactions, give-aways and such.

I guess my biggest problem is that my fiance is coming here on thurs night, so I don't want to do anything one time and then have to do it again with her, that and I am a big whimp now and have no massive sense of adventure anymore...plus being dang tired after a day of force-fed 1 on 1 training with my job.

Wednesday I took a 6am flight from Orlando to get to work at 2 here, stayed at work until 8pm, then I went to the Pub in the bottom of the hotel for a burger and beer, got my picture taken with 2 of the hotties at the bar (they just grabbed me and took a picture while I was dazed from 2 beers, 6 hours of work, and traveling 7 hours with a timezone lag of 3 hours).

Last night I had dinner with my boss out here at PF Changs on the west side of town. This morning I went to the buffet at the bottom of my hotel, I am not a big buffet guy but I needed something quick.

Tonight, I am not sure what to do, RoniMan gave me some good suggestions.

I dont want to go to some chain resteraunt I can do in Orlando, so I am looking for some local stuff. Any suggestions are welcome and much appreciated.

I could have the admins slap you for being a smart@ss.

I saw one coming into town, it had a huge lit up sign that said "In and Out" with a big arrow. I first saw them in San Fran last summer, but I forgot about them. Thus, when I first saw the sign I thought "Wow, the legalized whore houses are close to the strip". I knew it couldn't be true, but its a funny to consider, a second later and I reemembered what that place was.

Last night I went to the Ballagio and watched a couple water shows, which were pretty f'ing neat. Also walked down to treasure island to check out their show. While at the B I put my name in for a place called Olives there, 2.5 hour reservation time, but the steak was worth it.

Walked back to my hotel and watched some high-stakes blackjack, some of those people really suck at playing. Throwing down 5k and then hitting on stupid hands...ohh well, their cash.

I am tempted to get tickets to Celine Dion, my finace is a big fan, but I am too poor. Otherwise we are going to drive to the Grand canyon on sat, do stuff on the strip and check out shows on fri/sat night.

Yeah, there are many Cirque shows going on, the "O" one at the Bellagio is pretty dang expensive. I was going to check out some others for sat night.

As far as seedy crap, if I am going to spend money I dont want to spend it on seedy crap, might as well pay the incrimental cost and watch/do something better. Call me elitist
