Everytime I check for new threads, someone else is posing a question on how to get in/out of a complicated relationship. Interesting. Maybe it's cuz the holiday season is approaching and no one wants to be alone during it or something.
Dunno. It just struck me as as a bit odd when I started to read skiAtomic's thread and thought, "have i already read this or was it someone else?"

i think when it comes down to it, many people in this world are in pretty weird or screwed up relationships. add to that the fact that we're a bunch of hapless geeks here, and i think you have your answer

i think it is nice to bounce our conflicts, and our issues off a variety of ppl.
so as we have gotten more comfortable on this board we tell our virtual friends a lot, m'be too much

after re-reading my thread title, i sound a bit like an condescending ass. i too bounce my problems off of people here.
i didn't mean for it to sound like "why is everyone here screwed up but me?" i was going more for the "i feel your pain fellow apexers. you can lean on me!"

Seriously, though, I think a lot of people just have stuff to get off of their chests, and while I think it would be cool to have friends to open up to, I don't think anybody should have this kind of stuff laid on them all the time. he.. he.. I said laid....

I've been a nut case since my girlfriend left me 1.5 years ago... dated 26 girls/women since then
The whole chain of events started when I got this internship, coincidence that my boss was the father of the girl I was dating, and now seemingly out of my control that the girl I’m seeing now was hiding that she had a boyfriend. C'est la vie... life's definitely interesting though.
And closer...
I think people post about it because they want/need the attention from random strangers who are 90% stalker (proportion taken from another thread).....

when do virtual friends become real friends? i have people on here and other forums that i honestly think have evolved from virtual to real.
and i have come here for advice for my rl problems as well. didn't get much but

well, my take on it is that if i know one of my "real" friends has been in a similar situation, they'll be able to relate more. Luckily, with things like the rape thing I went through last year and little things like this, no one else I know had to go through it. If unfortunately someone else in the world (or here) had a similar situation, it's much easier to communicate over a common tie like that.
At any rate, I often follow the advice that I get from people here... and even if you don't get any serious responses to a thread, seeing the humor everyone comes up with is still great to see

Definitely...last year we had a short lived file sharing message board with various topics on campus. I started talking to this one girl on it quite a bit, never really thought about actually meeting her, until one night while at a house party we started mingling (I didn't know it was her) and then she was sorta like "Hey, you're PrObLy arent you?!" it was really pretty freaky. Anyways, I ended up taking her home that night... ok ok, not to get some, but because she was incredibly **** faced and wouldn't have made it back otherwise. Well, the moral of the story is that we started hanging out quite a bit and became decent friends...online people can be real friends too
