Used to live in HB for five years. Great place to live, but I know some people that say people from HB are stuck up, depends where you live. I loved living there, and that's all I got to say about it.

I've met stuck up people from Compton hehe. HB and Newport are very nice areas and if you move in and don't blend, then the neighbors may get very snobby. Overall though people I know from there are nice people.

I live in Irvine. I am originally from the East Coast and I have found that people around here look at eachother like cattle. but overall if you like smog we got plenty of it.

I live in Irvine (on weekends) Newport beach is nice. Pretty clean with good surf if you're into that. Otherwise there's plenty of stuff to do around there.

For Huntington Beach the Cable Service provider is Time Warner. The service is pretty good. Of course my friend's family has been on it since last May, way before anyone else. He's just lucky his mom works at Time Warner, no charge for premium cable, or Internet access , I even asked for discounts, she said she couldn't hook me up .

I'm new to the city of Irvine - started at UCI this year, enjoying the T1 that they give to us while it lasts. So far, I'm liking OC a lot. Whats up with all that construction on the freeways though??

    Another SoCal here (Orange co.)

Live in Rancho Santa Margarita (South Orange). Work in Irvine. Been here for about a year. At first, I was not to thrilled with being here. I grew up in small towns so I really do not like big cities. South Orange co. has a lot of landscaping and open areas to help get my mind off the city buzz. Overall not a bad place to live.

That's because CalTrans can't get their act together. They chug along at the speed of molasses. Those idiots close the freeways at the most inconvenient times. Whose on the freeways at 10PM on Fridays? A LOT!!! How about 1AM to 6AM Saturday instead of trapping all the Friday night partygoers and what not in traffic?!

The construction on the I-5 has been going on for the longest time.

They're reconstructing I-105 because after maybe 5 years of use, the whole freeway is sinking!!

The 91 freeway's FastTrac is under a whole lot of fire because of mismanagement.

The list goes on and on. Bureaucracy

How about the 405 between LAX and 101. If that isn't the worst traffic I don't know what is! LA Times reported it as the most congested highway segment in the world. I believe as I had to sit through that when I commuted to UCLA senior year! My commutes normally took 1.5 to 3 hours to go 35 miles.

The first 26 miles at an average of 80-110 mph (love that 105 hehe), and the last 13 at an average of 4-8 mph. Hmm, do you see a possible problem here.

colossus, I completly agree that the 405 during rush hour is horrible. I should be ashamed to tell this but, when going up to my friends apartment on a Friday afternoon. After moving a whole foot in 5 minutes, I needed to goto the restroom...so, to make a long story short, I popped my car in neutral, jumped to the back seat, and my friend jumped over from the front passenger side and continued driving while I relieved myself into a extra large cup.

None of these posts ever stay on topic huh? And I'm helping to take it off topic

Anyways, what I don't understand is why the government doesn't widen the damn freeway. More road = faster travel = less accidents and more fuel efficiency = happier commuters, more time with family, more tax revenue from increased worker productivity.

May seem like a very simple concept. May seem even almost gamelike. I mean, when you play all those strategy games things that increase your civ's efficiency and productivity always win the game. Maybe these city planners should play Civilization or Sim City

The only downside I see to this is that there would be a need to move people who live near the freeway. Pollution would actually go down in the sense that cars would actually move instead of just spinning cams.

If you saved just 30 minutes a day, there's your exercise excuse! Or think of it as 180 extra hours a year! Ahh, more sleep...zzzzz

I can't wait for cars that do the driving for you in traffic and relinquish control when there isn't. That way I can sleep on the way to school or work, and when I can speed, I can drive like a maniac.

That makes too much sense colossus.

The Washington D.C. area has the second worse traffic congession in the USA. What's the liberals around here solution for it? {pretends he's a Washington D.C. Area liberal} "We need more mass transit. Yeah that's the solution. Even though the percentage of people using mass transit here is amongst the highest in the nation. And also raise gasoline price$ up $2 a gallon so we can pay through the ass just like Europeans. That's just for starters of course. We must get people out of their fossil fuel polluting cars and onto buses and trains. Forget about convience and taking the kids wherever you need to take them and your petty little excuses. You must make the sacrifice and we're making you make the sacrifice! You don't have a choice or voice in the matter."

And then there's some enviromental wacko group trying to block construction of a new Wilson Bridge while the old one literally is falling down taking 3 times the number of cars it was designed to take. Sometimes you feel like shoving your mighty fist in some idiots faces over and over again.
