I guess no copy games for the US people (for a while anyway, people will probably beat the protection again )

I'm glad I got an import

    ----------

According to Sony representatives in Tokyo, the internal PlayStation2 hardware is being slightly remodeled to defeat PS2 modchips which allow users to play copies of pirated software. In sections of Taiwan and Hong Kong, pirated copies of PlayStation2 software and modchips are now openly available. What's worse, the PlayStation2 piracy isn't limited to CD-ROM titles. Some pirates have copied DVD-ROM games, and by stripping music tracks, fit them on standard 74min CDR media.

The standard PlayStation2 unit is model number; SCPH 10000. However, a new version of the PlayStation2 system is scheduled to begin shipping next month in Japan, model number; SCPH 15000. The internal differences between the systems remain unknown, but we'll keep you posted.

Ha there will always be a way around the copy protection. I think sony was banking on the fact that everything was on DVD so it would be harder to copy since DVD burners are not common. I just want to be able to play all my copied PS games on the PS2, a blank DVD costs 30 bucks anyways so unless you can do what that post said and leave some stuff out and get it on cd, then I guess I will just be buying the games for a while.

Just to tell you all that most PS2 games are still on regular CD-roms, so you can still copy most games.

I copy only crappy games. Cool games I'll buy as a collector's item

Everytime some anti-piracy technology is employed, piracy finds a way around it.
