Metallica didn't just do it on one day, they are still doing it. They just arn't telling people about it because of the huge public backlash they suffered the first timet they did it.

He means they only took names for one day to ban people. Actually, you'll know if you got banned because it tells you that your IP is banned.

i haven't used napster in months...are they gone? i can't get onto their webpage and i can't connect onto their servers :-(.
if it is gone, what can we use now?
will.

I am on Napster right now.
Did you hear that they blocked anyone who was trading Metallica? Actualy it was only from one day. Metallica got ahold of tons of IP addresses one day when they scanned for people trading Metallica songs. So if you were using it that day and traded Metallica, the that is probably why you can't get on.
Otherwise, I don't know.

My brother got banned by Dre, so it's not just Metallica.

They don't ban your ip, but with the recent bans, the leave something in your registry so that you can't reinstall unless you have a crack for it.

there has been another ongoing thread about this if you want to check it out

somewhere in there was a link on how to get rid of the registry files that napster adds when you get banned, it worked for me, so now I am back on.

i've heard that gnutella is a pretty good replacement; even the inventor of napster was praising gnutella because it's unsueable form.
