So I had a Latitude C810 that was about 2-1/2 years old, and it turned out to be a lemon. It was a P-III 1.13GHz machine, and the video disply kept dying. Since November, I had the machine worked on 4 times - they replaced the LCD, then the system board, then the video board, then the LCD again, but the problem never went away.
So after repair #4, I called Dell & asked that they swap out the machine for a different one. In case you don't know, Dell's unofficial policy is that if they try to fix the same problem more than 3 times, you can ask for a replacement machine.
So, a box arrives in the mail today, and inside is a beautiful Latitude D800... 1.7GHz Centrino, 15.4" WUXGA screen, DVD/CDRW combo drive, wireless - the works. It's a refurb, but I expected that. Quite an upgrade from an old P-III. Thanks, Dell!
