Pocket PC - Dell Axim is messed up, dangit

General Pocket PC question here before I head over to Dell's forums.

I've had my Axim for 14 months, and I've probably used my 300+ charges of the Lithium Ion battery. It still holds for 5-6 hours instead of the original 7-8, but the problem is that the touchscreen gets misaligned after it's been off the charger for 2 hours!

I press the top of the screen, and it hits the middle of the screen somewhere. RARR! That means I can't hit the Start bar, can't close items, etc. A hard reset fixes this for another 2 hours, but darned if I'll do this all the time. Since I have a 1 year warranty, I can't send it in for free anymore.

    1) Should I give up on this problem and toss it?

    2) I really want built in Bluetooth (my desktop and laptop have it, want to sync through a Pocket/Palm device). A Bluetooth CF card is $55 from Newegg, and I need a new stylus, so that's $20 from Dell for a pack of 3. I'm wondering if I should jump to an iPAQ H1940/H2215 or Palm Tungsten T3, anything around $300-$350 really.

So, ideas on if I'm screwed with this touchscreen problem (as in, Dell won't help me either)?
    And closer...

Give them a call & raise hell about it failing just outside of the warranty period... they might fix it for you anyway.

They might ask you to buy a 2nd year of warranty coverage to fix it, and if they do, jump at it. It'll be worth it, even if you end up ebaying the thing.

go check the Dell forums. chances are, someone may have come across the same problem. the Dell forums have saved my butt in regards to my Dell mp3 player. there may be a firmware upgrade or something that will help you out.

    good luck
