Shame on me for not doing my taxes yet, but has anyone out there used that TaxCut software from H&R Block? I'm debating whether to use that or pay the extra $10 and go with TurboTax again. Pro's and con's would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!![]()

Go with turbotax on the web there are some coupons to be had if you look.
50% off from Fidelity
30% off from BofA
I've used both, and they are really quite similar. Taxcut can usually be found with a free (after rebate) charitable deduction management program, whereas the TurboTax one will cost you full price (and it is NOT worth it!)
Anyway, theres a $10 off code if you pick it up at staples.com...
Code: 83416 $10 off $40 (exp unknown) thx grabber (ripped from FW)

6 of one, 1/2 dozen of the other.
yeah, pretty much we missed the boat on that one. but it's still here. get you some.
I used Taxcut last year and this one. Worked just fine. It is all pretty much the same in terms of your taxes so I wouldn't think you would see too much of a difference in the bottom line of one vs. another. Last year Turbotax had a really annoying piracy protection feature that shot it for me. They say they no longer have it but Taxcut is cheaper and if you know how to delete entries from your registry file you can install as many diferent states as you might need.![]()

I read a review comparing the tax return software packages, and it gave TurboTax the edge.
stay low... keep moving...
From what I've seen, TaxCut is usually about $10 less than TurboTax. I'm not sure what version includes state taxes, e-filing, etc.Originally posted by DarkFury
How much is TaxCut (before this rebate)? Does it include the State taxes and electronic filing?
I know that with TurboTax, the version I got cost me $30, however it included a free download copy of my State taxes and one free Federal electronic filing (which costs $14.95 on top of the price of the software), therefore, TurboTax really only cost me like $15...
Considering that most tax places CHARGE you $25 or more to electronically file your taxes, I considered that a good deal... plus since I've always used TurboTax, it is able to import my tax data from previous years which helps to speed up basic data entry in doing your taxes.
But to each his/her own...
And you bring up an excellent point that it may be easier just sticking with the same software that you previously used in order to speed up the data entry process.
FYI - Both of the tax programs can import previous years data from the other. They do everything they can to make the pain of switching low for obvious reasons. Therefore, "sticking with I used last year is easier" is essentialy a meaningless statement. In the end I don't think there is any meaningful difference between the two.Originally posted by DarkFury

I used tax cut. Got it at best buy for $20 or so, not sure. It was real simple (well partially cause my taxes are simple) and i did it all online before i went on vacation and then 2 weeks later the money was in my account. Yay $$$$
I still need to do my MA taxes, ugh, but i will just do that online for free.
Boo ya Grandma
I used Turbo Tax and I'm a happy camper.![]()
