Yup.. Going to another Bachelor's party, and it's gonna be paintballin'. I know Jack about it, so I've been reading up on some stuff. It seems like the best bang for the buck is the Rainmaker.

I want to stay within that price range... Or should I just rent. I'll probably buy the mask because people tell me the rental ones are gross.

    Thumbs up

Paintballing's fun, but be sure to prepare yourself for a world of hurt. The most important piece of equipment that people tend to overlook is the "CUP," or "JOCKSTRAP." Wear one, please. I shot some guy in the nuts once and he dropped to the floor writhing in pain. Oh...and keep your mouth closed if you see a pellet flying towards your face. The mask will stop the impact, but you'll get a good amount of splash damage. Have fun, man! It's a great experience.

    Cool

If this is your first time paintballing, then don't buy a marker (paintball gun) yet. If you wanna shell out for something, shell out for a good pair of mask and cup. Maybe even some good kneepads. Make sure that the masks you buy have thermal lenses. They prevent your lens from fogging up. I would recommend the JT Spectra goggle/mask (with thermal lenses). Any cup will do, any comfortable kneepads will do.
Although you might not get the best and prettiest marker when you rent, i assume that everyone else on the bachelor party will be using rental markers. A majority of rental paintball guns are made by Spyder. They are a very dependable semiauto marker with great potential for upgradeability. I would recommend this as good starter gun. Play paintball for atleast 2 more times after this party with rental gun and see if it is something that you'll like. It is a fairly expensive hobby/recreation to get into.
In most paintball fields, the crowd is usually very friendly. Ask questions from veterans who have been playing there for a while. Most of them are kind enough to even let you try out their guns. That way you can get a feel on what you may plan to buy in the future. After everything is said and done and you think that you are ready to really get into paintballing... then it will be time to shop around for a nice gun. BTW, where do you guys plan to play?

Yea, ugly's right. A rental is the choice for you until you get more exp. Go, see how you like it, and see how much you're willing to spend on it. As for the equipment, you also might want to get a bandana or something to wear around your neck, i saw a girl get hit here once, it wasnt pretty.

Okay. Good advice guys. I guess I'll just rent and buy the mask and cup... Well, I was definitely going to buy the cup. Not worth going sterile just to save bucks.

Oops... Here's where we are going:

Jungle Island in the city of Lake Elsinore (San Bernardino).

I think they have the field rented out, so it will just be the party
