it can be argues each and every way, but the real question is why is dell so concerned? Is the sale of apple equipment starting to effect dells bottom line? There must be some kind of reasoning for dell's complaint. Why is dell even taking notice, they dont have ANY 64 bit consumer systems.
This just made me laugh. Its almost as bad as gateways profile IV that directly targetted the iMac. I dont see Apple changing its ads anytime soon. Plus, apple is rumored to release an update to the powermac line, which would mean faster systems.

I think that it is tough to substantiate that it's the world's fastest computer. It would be like Honda saying they make the best cars in the world. How do you justify that?

i wonder if i can complain about dell saying "dude, you're getting a dell", and i still have yet to see a dell show up at my doorstep. Those claims by dell were totally untrue in my case.
i also didnt hear dell complain about intel stating the PIII made the internet faster. Again, that was completely untrue.
I wonder if dell is worried that apple has turned heads with its low cost supercomputer capabilities. $5million for a #3 spot at http://www.top500.org/list/2003/11/
Just behind the VT mac is a dell with 300 more CPU's rated at 1000MHz more, cost way more, and didnt perform as well as the mac. Apple has now released teh Xserve G5, which features hardware ecc, which in theory should boost VT's score slightly, while maintaining its low cost. Several companies are taking notice. Powerbooks are slowly becoming more common with IT staff. Is dell feeling threatened by this? Will the new breed of powerbook users switch from poweredge servers to Xserves? possibly, but if they do, it will take time.
as i said before, i think this is dells response to feeling a real threat from apple. why else would the worlds largest computer maker attack a company with less than 5% marketshare?

Apple never conceited that they weren't the worlds fastest computers they just thought that it would be more effective to use 3rd party quotes. I think it works. People are alot more likely to believe 3rd party reviews.Originally posted by Nija

A fanboy (or Fanboi depending) is somebody like an "ATIdiot" or "Nvidiot". They will only buy that one product just because they are "Loyal" to it. They refuse to see the problems in the product and refuse to buy ANYTHING else but that product.
Brand loyalty is stupid. These companies could give a rats ass whether you love them or not, they are there for a profit. Ribitch's blind brand loyalty is even worse since he will buy regardless of price/performance advantages of another system. He will defend it to his death, maintaining that Jobs is diety and Gates et al are devils.
Anything that Apple does wrong will ALWAYS be another persons/Company's fault (above issue). Any performance problem will ALWAYS be attributed to another issue rather than the fault of the platform.
One instance of success will be multiplied to imply that the platform is superior (read VT's cluster being the end-all and be-all of super computer clusters), and any performance numbers will mark a superior product even if those numbers are so narrowly defined that the item sucks in every other area.
Lastly, a fanboy will ignore all real data that might point out that they are wrong. Thus, Apple will ALWAYS be the first 64-bit personal computer. It will ALWAYS be the fastest on the plant. It will ALWAYS be illegal to export (cough*bullschnitt*cough), and, it will ALWAYS be faster in multi-media stuuff despite ALL benchmarks pointing to the contrary in 9 tests out of 10, where that one test where it is superior due to such a narrow, performance enhanced benchmark that it stacks it in its favor.
Thats a fanboy.

To buy inhell for yourself would be foolish. To recommend inhell to others would be wrong.
