    Damn you milk!

So I found out that my brain swells when I drink too much milk. How much is too much? About 1 cup. And based on the characteristics that I display when this happens, It's probably happend to me a lot when I was a kid.

At one time I heard there was research being done about drinking too much water when working out that could cause brain swelling. I haven't heard anything about that since.

it's probably just an allergic reaction...you need to figure out if you need to stop drinking milk and eating milk products or whether it's ok in moderation.

Yah, I hate milk in it's straight form. I like dairy stuff, cheese, ice cream, etc. But I go soy milk for just drinking.

    Everything is calcium fortified now.

    Calcium Rich Foods
Are you eating enough calcium rich foods? This page shows you which foods are rich in calcium.

Are You Eating Enough Calcium Rich Foods?
'Dietary calcium' means the calcium you eat as part of your everyday diet.

You probably know that milk has a lot of calcium in it. In other words, it is one of the calcium rich foods. Other dairy products, like cheese, yogurt and butter, are also calcium rich foods.

But there are other calcium rich foods. In fact, the best of the calcium rich foods -- even better than dairy products -- may surprise you.

    It's tofu.

Here is a list of other foods that are also good sources of calcium:

Spinach and other leafy green vegetables

    Broccoli

    Dried fruit

    Almonds

    Brazil nuts

    Sesame seeds

    Baked beans
Well, the nuts, dried fruit, and baked beans sound pretty good (and they are calcium rich foods), but you might be turning up your nose at the broccoli and spinach.

That would be too bad, because broccoli and spinach are both really good sources of calcium -- and there are a lot of different ways to prepare them to make them taste good.

Yes but you don't get the lactic acid and D12 to absorb the calcium.

Only if you live in chicago during the winter. In most other places, there is more than enough sunlight to absorb the calcium.

btw revil: Is it just an allergic reaction or is there a name for it. Did the doctor tell you what it was?

Nope. Calcium absorbtion from milk is way higher than other sources. Adults get 75% of their absorbed calcium from milk. You'd be hard pressed to make that up with pills. You'll probably end up with a gall stone. There's no scientific evidence that the body can even absorb calcium from corral. You'd have to tripple your intake of dark leafy greens to get the required calcium or 3 glasses of vitamin D fortified, calcium fortified soy milk. I'd rather get my calcium naturally. Plus, milk has other antiosteroporosis(sp?) factors.

Bottom line: milk does a body good
