Just check out www.filenavigator.com or go to www.napster.org.uk They both have clones that connect to open-nap servers and are better than napster. also, there is gnutella, imesh, scour, hotline, and don't forget the irc/ftp combination! check out opennap.sourceforge.net as well.

some of these could never be shut down because they are not running from a central server. they are entirely client-side applications that make direct connections without having to route through a central server.

what good does an online national petition do?? for a petition to be effective, does it not have to have something like 10% of constituent signatures, or something to that effect. this just seems like a poor attempt at a feeble idea. also, the 'save our napster' petition sounds like it was written by a fifth grader who is totally clueless to the situation. what he doesn't know is that there are already many different program available that are much better than napster. opennap for one.

Nope, it's not the end of the world because of Napster being shut down. There are plenty of other programs out there that may be better than Napster (to each his/her own opinion). If those programs are better, but haven't had a lot of people on them before, I'm sure they will have a lot now. The idea of these petitions isn't a garuntee that Napster will be saved because of it (very minute if nil, infact).

Hell, maybe someone just wanted to see how many signatures he could get on a petition.

    Take it or leave it.

Agree...the whole idea of regulating the internet is so vague. The fact is, they can't. This whole hearing was a waste of time and money.

    Thanks for the links coleslaw

I confirm with coleslaw. There are things that just can not be shut down. typical example FTP u think they can dissallow all ftps?!? it is a global matter plus it roots from more then music alone.

Boycott Dr. Dre and Metalica, by not buying their albums.

Theres only 4 major record companies out their that is controlling and manopolizing the music industry. (not good)

We need to unite and support napster.com.

I dont get it, you can copy your favorite television show, but you cant copy your favorite song.

Napster.com is some what like Blockster Music, in which a person could test out the song album. This gave the consumer an incentive to test out the album, kind of like napster. =)

Think about it if they band napster, then why not tax every email you send through the internet. Mp3 files are here to stay.

    Peace
