Yeah they come randomly they look like big meetballs with lettuce on top and horns...

You hit the corresponding number. Like 5 is the number 5 on the keypad (center button). I could only get to 6.
Got to level 9, was trying to save up for the golden hammer, got enough for it, just never had a chance to buy it and was killed off at the start of the 9th level...
hit the number that they show....
What is up with the "red guys"... I can't hit them and they take my hearts away when they go down by themselves.

lvl 7 5015 with 194 gold on the first try. Heh stupid Number ones threw me for a loop at first

Was never able to get pass the level with the guys who have bombs for heads. Topped out at 21,000 or so. Somebody beat that please, so that I'll have a reason to play again

I for the life of me can't figure out what I am supposed to do
use the number keypad (0-9) to swing your hammer at the corresponding squares. Only swing when there is an enemy or item there, or you will lose some health. Certain enemies take multiple swings (red ones have 2 health, for example), and other enemies' unique traits are explained as they come along.
Once you get the next hammer size up, you can swing at the spiked balls for hearts. I think the trick may be getting the golden hammer, so you can hit the ghosts for stuff.

Fairly addicting and fun. But the directions have a bit to be desired.

I think it was 12 or 13. I think the score goes up exponentially though - so it's not much farther in the game than 15,000 or so.
