    Solar water heaters?

Anyone out there have one, or know someone that does? I'm really interested, but I want to know what kind of costs there are for them, as well as potential drawbacks, etc. How much do they actually save you in electric bills, and are there any kind of tax credits for having them?

Where do you live? Does your house have a roof with a lot of southern exposure?

The Department of Energy used to have a bunch of free literature regarding solar. Check the Web to see if they still have them.

Thanks. There's actually a dealer near me that sells solar water heaters. Price is listed as $1950 plus S&H for an 80 gallon system. Yikes. The site doesn't list how much they estimate that to save you monthly, though.
