That's very nice but you can't deny these stats for the '87 959: a F6, 2.85 liter 450-horsepower, 370 ft-lb engine that tops out at 198 mph and is designed to handle WRC track conditions. 0-60 @ 3.6 seconds, and quarter mile in 11.8 seconds. And best of yet, hehe, its not legal in the states since Porsche did not allow to have four models for crash testing :O. All of this from a car manufactured 13 years ago.

Yes, but wasn't the 959 water cooled? I think so. And there were only 201 made, were there not? I dunno, I think if you're talking about the quintessential Porsche, it has to have a coupla things:

    Air cooled (bye bye, 996)
Rear engined (See ya, everything except 911's)
    Not rust (1988-present)
Not suffer from terminal understeer (i.e., 1992 Carrera 4)

So I'm thinking like a 993 C4 or a 993 Turbo, although the old Turbo 3.6 was a pretty wild machine too...re:handful to drive. I guess a RUF could count, but I haven't heard of them making anything since the old Yellow Bird models...does RUF still modify 993's and 996's?

OK, yeah, you're right, the GT1 was so bad-ass. Aesthetically, though, did it remind anyone of a whale from the rear 3/4 view? That thing looked HUGE!
