    No Wireless Connection-OS Sputters

This has happened to me on NT and XP and on several computers. If enable a wireless connection and there is a problem with my wireless connection and it can't connect, well the OS kinda locks up. I don't know why, but it's all jerky and its very hard to move the mouse back to disconnect. Once I disconnect everything goes back to normal.

Anyone familiar with this? It just makes no sense to me why this would happen. Finding a wireless connection shouldn't tax the whole system. And it makes troubleshooting a real pain.

    Yeah a response.

I've only seen this happen with pci wireless cards. I'm just surprised no one else experienced this problem. Once i have a clean connection the sputtering disappears.

I had this same problem with my ThinkPad and a Netgear PCMCIA WiFi card. It didn't matter if I was trying to hit my home network or a public-access wireless access point at Starbucks or Panera.

I tried a different card and the problem went away.
