The context of the line was something like the following:
"Man, I dropped a gorilla on my new clothes"
and..
"That runner dropped a gorilla in his last race"
We also looked it up on urbandictionary.com, but it didn't help that was single-word usage of "gorilla" .. I have never heard of the phrase 'to drop a gorilla on', hence the curiosity

That makes me think "dropped a gorilla" means "got the monkey off his back". Like when Garnett and the TimberWolves finally won a playoff series after years of failing to do so.
