    Emergency!

Apparently my friend deleted a paper along with some trash, then emptied the Recycle Bin (Windows 2000 I think).

Is there any way to salvage this data so she can get the paper back?

As long as she didnt put anything else in the RB and delete it it should be recoverable. Let us know how it goes.

I am extremely busy until tomorrow later, so this is all i can do.

    This is what she said:

HER: thanks for the help but i don't know how to work this sadly
    HER: ok i've tried
    HER: but it wont work

I know nothing about this software. Is there another option with something easier to use?
    And closer...

Maybe word or whatever application she used auto-archived the paper. If she is using MS word, See if her auto-recovery settings were turned on and where they put files at. I don't know if those files remain even after the original file is deleted though, but it's worth a shot.

Recover4All works great & it's pretty easy to use, although she may have to sift through a bunch of deleted files to find the one she wants. I ran this one time on one of my machines & it found files that had been deleted 3 years ago.

Registration is $69, but the eval version will tell her if it will work before she buys it.

Haven't tried it personally, but it was recommended by a friend. Too late for this emergency, I know, but posting for future reference...

Y'all are my heroes. I was burning discs to clear space and deleting the files behind me. and sure enough, part of the disk was bad and i had already deleted the folder.
But that last post saved the day... So thank you!!! I think this is a most wonderful list of options for morons like myself.
