    Barebones computer needed, advice?

I want to build a simple gaming machine and I got most of the ingredients (geforce 4 ti4600, big HD, CD Burner, etc) but now I need the guts. I need a motherboard/mobo and some RAM. I also need a simple and cool case. I am hoping to shell out no more than $300 for this combo, but I am not sure if I can swing it. First off, since I am gaming should I go AMD? Secondly, can I get a better deal if I buy the motherboard/chip combo?

    Thanks!

i would say watch out for those motherboard/cpu combo deals at Fry's. Usually, it comes with a simple ECS brand motherboard, which is probably all you need, anyways.

As for a case, that is a matter of personal tastes. Try looking around online for anything you like. Try stores like: svcompucycle.com, newegg.com, or zipzoomfly.com.

You can also look at outpost.com. I got a P4 3.2E and motherboard for $199 a while back. That may be a little more that you want to spend, but they have other setups for not as much.

You can look for barebones systems that come with the case, power supply, motherboard, and CPU . You'd just have to add memory and your components.

tigerdirect.com is also worth watching - sometimes they have some combo deals (but often with rebates attached).
