'Brain' in dish flies flight simulator


(CNN) -- A Florida scientist has developed a "brain" in a glass dish that is capable of flying a virtual fighter plane and could enhance medical understanding of neural disorders such as epilepsy.

The "living computer" was grown from 25,000 neurons extracted from a rat's brain and arranged over a grid of 60 electrodes in a Petri dish.

The brain cells then started to reconnect themselves, forming microscopic interconnections, said Thomas DeMarse, professor of biomedical engineering at the University of Florida.

Thats kinda funny. It talks about the brain connecting up and flying the flight simulator. And then follows that with but it didn't fly very well....
It sounds like they are a little over excited. Maybe they should start with two dimensional car driving so the mini brain has a chance...
After all, we learn to walk and bike, before we drive and fly. This poor little brain just gets thrown into the fire.

I think they should mass produce these things and force them to come standard with every SUV they sell to soccer moms. Maybe then I wont get almost run over a few times on my way to work by a soccer mom on the phone.
