    math question

    This seems lame to me that I can't remember how to do this..but here's the question.

    Tan2(theta) = 3.664

    How do I solve for theta?

    I know tan^-1 3.664 = 74 Degrees
    Does this mean theta is half of 74?
    This doesn't sound right to me.

    You have to use a fudamental property of Trig eqn's.
    Tan 2(theta)= 2tan(theta)/(1-tan^2(theta))

    Is there a restraint on the domain at all?

    If you mean that it's tan(2*theta) = 3.664...

    tan(2*theta) = 3.664
    2*theta = tan^-1(3.664)
    theta = tan^-1(3.664) / 2
    And closer...
