    SC420, 2.8GHz, P4, 80G SATA for $289

As the title stated, Dell PowerEdge Server Sc420 with P4 2.8GHz, 80G SATA for $289 with free shipping. I don't know how to post a link here, but you can go to Dell Small Business and click on "Outrageous Deals" under "Shopping Alternatives" then choose Servers, Storage & Networking.

I also have a question. Can I use this as a desktop running Windows XP Pro? If I can then do I have to do anything special or just load Windows? TIA
    Whatever you say Boss....

Yes, works fine. Just load Windows.

BTW, if you're interested in this deal, keep your eyes on it... the price for this system has been jumping around like crazy. Yesterday I saw it go from $249 to $274 to $279 in a matter of minutes.

The CPU, HD & RAM alone would go for over $300

Looks like its back to $499...I guess keep checking for the $289 price to return? (I'm really only looking to get this to play HL2!).

You can still get it without the p4 for a (relatively) good price. Anyone know what kind of chipset this is? And how does this compare to my 400sc? I need a new one since this one is having BSOD irql errors now. After only a year

    $284 celeron 2.53, 512 400mhz ddr, 80gb sata
or get it for $274 with 40gb sata

Either 915 or 925 with PCIe and DDR2, which is pretty nice. The P4 2.8Ghz goes for $373 with free upgrade to 512MB DDR2 PC3200.
