Thread: ASUS AV8 Delux or wait for the new NForce4???

Question ASUS AV8 Delux or wait for the new NForce4???

    Hey all, quick question.
    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...eid=0035742108

Tiger direct has the Asus AV8 Delux MB, and the Athlon64 3400+ processor for $300 after rebate. Its $400 prior to rebate, about the same price at Newegg.com.
My question is do I go this route at $300 or wait till the NForce4 MBs come out get one of those and probably have to get a 3200+ chip instead due to the increase MB cost.

So what I am really asking is...is the Nforce4 worth waiting for and worth the extra $$$.

    Thanks in advance,
    Shoe

hey, i was thinking about the exact same thing as poop shoe, except i wanted the gigabyte ga-k8ns ultra939. last time i checked, mwave.com offered the board and an amd 3200+ for around $308. when exactly will the nforce4 boards come out (preferably from gigabyte)? and, this is kinda off-topic, but does anyone know when the agp version of the 6600 comes out?

The AGP version of the 6600GT has been listed at Buy.com http://www.buy.com/retail/product.as...7&loc=101&sp=1
    and Newegg.com http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...150-080&depa=0
but both are out of stock right now.
As for the motherboard, AnandTech reported getting a producion model for their November 12th review, but said that the packaging was not final retail version so they may be hitting the market shortly- say the next month or so. If you get the board, you will want the PCI version of the 6600. Or two of them if you get the SLI version.

The GT is faster than a non-GT. They sometimes also have an Ultra, which would be the highest. In the 6800 series, the Ultra is almost twice the price of the GT ($225 vs $399 list). The 6600s in AGP form are just shipping, so I would expect one from Gigabyte soon. They (nVidea) may have some new cards out in the first quarter of next year.
