    Heh, nice one Esdee.

Wow, RAID'ing 7200rpm IDE drives and then passing them off as something really cool, what will they think of next? Such innovation, style, and being the leader of the pack...WOW!

*Looks down at the Cheetah 10k.7 and 15k.4*.

I guess you guys are too crappy for Apple. Especially since Ellison uses 10 year old technology, which makes you look...ummm...obsolete?!? and we all know he is master of the universe.

Although in Apple's defense, there is a (slowly) growing trend of using multiple instances of much cheaper technology to match the output of much more expensive technology.

For example, the company that I used to work for was investing a lot of research time into building 'RAIC' arrays - Redundant Arrays of Inexpensive Computers. Rather than using one big $50k quad processor machine, they would install 10-12 cheap ($1500) low end blade machines & cluster them. They matched or beat the performance of the big machine, were cheaper, and added a high level of availability - if one machine failed, they just unmount it & throw a new one in there.

It's a good concept that needs some more research, but I think we'll see more & more of it in the future.

oracle isnt the only large corporation that is considering and/or implementing apples latest hardware offerings.

sure its IDE, but its cheap, easier and more inexpensive to expand, and most office supply stores, electronic stores, and computer stores stock replacement drives. When was the last time you saw a SCSI drive sitting on the shelves at bestbuy?
