    CDRW-problem-inconsistent working

I have a 1-2 year old lite-on CDRW cd-rom drive. It works, sometimes. It lights up, and flashes me everytime I reboot. If the tray is open, it closes (like it's supposed to). When I get into windows xp sp2 it will open and close, for roughly about 30 minutes (usually less, say 10-20 minutes). Then after that, it won't respond to me pressing the button on the front. However, when I open windows explorer, right click on it, and select eject, it opens, but it will not close. It doesn't make any unsual noises at anytime, so I don't think it's jammed. When I check with the device manager, it says the driver's are working fine. If I can open it up in time, and insert a cd, it will play the cd/game prefectly.

Can someone give me a little help on why it's all screwy?

    TIA

as with any computer related problem, it probaly has to do with the amount of p0rn you have on your computer...

i could not tell you what was wrong. But i might offer this suggestion. One, uninstall the drivers and have them be reinstalled by windows on next restart. or if you can't do that cause i am not sure if thats always possible to get a complete uninstall while the drive is still attached, I would unplug the cables from the drive, uninstall it out of the device manager, turn the computer off after the uninstall, plug it back in and then have it detect and put drivers back...

    good luck

yeah start with the driver. I don't trust the device manager to tell me what's working and what isn't.

Do you have a lot of programs running in the background? Try it in safe mode and see if you can get it to work.

Reseating the cable might do it for you.
