Call me addicted....I can't go anywhere without my laptop to (1) read and answer email, (2) keep up with points programs, and (3) "take care of business."
I get 500 emails a day, so I have to be active each day to keep current.
In the morning it is great for me since even though I have recently retired, I still get up at 5, but my wife doesn't usually get up till after 8....gives me a few hours to take care of things.
My wife still talks about the Panama Canal cruise we took some years ago where I got off with my laptop at each port to go find a phone booth to download my email. Nowadays, it is even easier on ships as they all have internet access on board.
Here is Las vegas all the hotels have very nice high-speed internet access.
Hi Addicted, don't the cruise ships charge something like $5/hr for accessing internet?
I don't recall the actual rate, but yes it is rather high.
What they do is let you buy blocks of time for $50, $100, etc. The more hours you by in a block the lower the hourly cost.
As a single number, the cost sure looks high. However, if you pay a few thousand dollars to take you family on a 12 day cruise through the Panama Canal, adding $100 to that to be able to check email once day is a small price (for me) to pay.....well worth the money (for me).
