My parents are in desperate need of a new computer, I'll be checking in tomrrow to see if my local store has any.

They only sell built to order computers so I may be out of luck.

It's advertised in my local paper this morning. Really great deal!

Oh well, I just called my local store and they don't know anything about it. The stores in this area are real new and none of them carry computers. Thanks for the heads up anyway.

My local staples (bradly/bourbonnais IL 60914) claims it was just an internet rumor and couldn't sell it to my wife for that price since it was full price in their computers...

    Not a rumor.
I was at our staples in two of my towns and they had well over 20 each.

It is $250 with a $50 rebate, less the $20 coupon mentioned earlier...

My local stores have it at $449 with a $50 rebate making it $399 after rebate.
I'd rather buy a Dell unless I can get it for $180.

i second what bf just said..
    is this a regional thing?
is there an ad link to this?

or the zip code for cities that have this promotion

** just called.. they said there's some memo out . .that they won't honor "regional" store pricematches...

*** so.. i guess. no luck

    Thumbs down

According to three of our local stores. There was a memo from the corporate office telling the stores not to match the other stores prices on this computer. That is complete BS as their own Price-Guarantee policy states they will match their own store on exact items.

What makes it worse is one of the asst. mgrs had already called another store to verify the price match and was going to do it. Then another asst. mgr. came out from the back and said they couldn't. They had gotten an email about it.

I plan on contacting the better business bureau about this. Maybe we should band together and form a class-action suit for fraud? Any lawyers frequent this board? Would we have a case?

Like someone said above, it's not $180 + tax, so that might be a problem that a few of you are having (the no-regional thing is another problem). If you call, don't ask for $180 computer, that raises a red flag -- ask if it's $250, because that is the list price.
    And closer...

Alright This is not a BS deal... I work at staples and I was the one printing out the price tag yesterday.... OK????

It is $249 and you get $50 back and it becomes $199+ Tax

You must have a Office Depot nearby the staples and only those stores have this Computer on Sale... Staples is trying to get more customers...

THis is not a rumor and whoever told that is a MORON!

BTW Dell SUCKS!! Worse than the ****paq

  24. #24
DeltaForce if the stores don't have it for $249 they won't price match... I just had a call from the customer relations office. They won't budge. Even though the customer service line said they would sell me one for that if they had any in stock.

They wont price match it... Its for Select Stores ONLY.. Like I said, There has to be a Office Depot nearby and staples is trying to attract customers...
A friend of mine, just bought the computer and it was $180 + Tax... So yeah this works!

    Unhappy

Went to my local Baltimore store and they told me it was a Washington DC only deal. I also used the insta chat thing on Staples.com and the told me it was "out of stock" in my local area. They had the exact model number you gave above for $399 after rebate. Oh well. It was worth a try.

I hit the Costa Mesa Staples. They have an Office Depot literally two doors down in the same center and NADDA.

In fact they only had two desktop models on display and neither were Compaqs.

checked out south orangecounty, they have it at 449 -50 dollars rebate. Has anyone in southern California seen this promo, or is it exclusive to certain regions?

  29. #29
well the office depot near staples part is cr@p - A sale should be a sale! *grumble*
There aren't many staples in south suburban chicagoland and even less office depots

update: there is only ONE staples south of chicago, in my home town - nearest office depot 30+ miles - actually the web site can't find any staples in chicago?!?!?!

The only store in metro Birmingham that's close to an Office Depot knows nothing about it...
