new year's resolutions... with a twist

okay. there's an article i read... probably in some dumb teenie rag ... many years ago that has stuck with me. it was about how shallow we have become. the example used was our new year's resolutions. what are most of them like? to lose weight. to have more fun... by doing more shots. whatever. etc. most of them come down to improving oneself cosmetically, or to doing something nice... for yourself. it compared that to a diary entry of a girl who lived in the 1800's... her new year's resolutions were to be a better listener, to be kinder to people she didn't like... REAL self-improvement stuff.

so... anyone else want to make a really meaningful new year's resolution?

i resolve... ahh, hell, i'm already perfection incarnate. next?

i make resolutions when i see there is a need to change. that happens all through the year. the new year does not inspire change.

To have cosmetic surgery done; get a new wardrobe; buy a nice car; and to become the epitome of shallowness.

Or, I could just sit on the couch and eat potato chips.

To be 110% available for my mother during her battle with a very serious illness.
    To listen more intently.
    To think more clearly.
    To feel more deeply.
    To give more freely.
