Ok so I bought the Maxtor HD that came with the free mini-fridge. I put it in a external enclosure (USB) and then plugged it in. It was recognized and then nothing. Doesn't show up on the list of drives. Now what?

well the mini-fridge I love. It's got a cigarette lighter adapter too. Great for the minivan.

yeah I used diskmgmt.msc to make a new partition

Have you gone to the management console (right-click my computer, manage, disk management) yet?
Is there unallocated space or unformatted drive or any kind of space awaiting drive-letter assignment or activation?
Dave.
