    SSSSS: Surgery

I have 3 herniated disks in my lower back. A couple of months ago the pain got worse. It spread into my leg and I thought it was sciatica. I had an MRI done a few weeks ago, and it shows that one of the disks is bulging into my spinal column, compressing the nerves which is causing the pain to spread into my leg. When I asked what we can do about this, my neuroligist said simply, "Surgery".

Aww crap. I've got a 5 month old baby and a 9 year old son who demands just as much (if not more) attention than the baby. I don't work right now, my husband's a waiter so we live off his tips (which are extremely well). How am I supposed to run a household while I'm recovering from back surgery? More importantly, how are we going to come up with rent if my husband has to take time off? *sigh* this sucks.

Hope you feel better soon. I just came off of medical leave myself, but my kids are not as young as yours. Can you trick your 9 year old into being a "helper"?

Good luck with everything. I'm sure you would have mentioned it if available but do you have family or friends who might be able to assist while you mend? I hope insurance is all squared away. Surgery last year was a bit of an insurance mess.

Well, my mother in law lives in Carson City and she's retired. She might be able to come out. I don't even know when this is all going to happen. I have to wait for workman's comp to approve it. and the way they've been going, it'll practically be never. So, I'm going to be in this much pain for a long time to come still. SUCKAGE!

Don't forget to think about the positives that surgery will give you. Less pain and more mobility should be nice.
