NS: Won myself a new soundcard for the laptop

I'm probably Tempting fate with this one, but oh well.

Last week I referred a friend to a weekly e-newsletter, and there was an Audigy 2 ZS Notebook PCMCIA soundcard up for grabs to one lucky person. Well, last night I opened up my e-mail only to find out that I was the winner of said card.

Now, I know what I said about Creative in the PAST, but at least this card slides into my notebook and doesn't need any power cables or anything (so theoretically, the user experience will be similar to my Audigy 2 NX USB soundcard). I've gotten used to the quirks of Creative Labs by now, so I think I'll manage.

Here's hoping that some new technological gadget actually works.

Well.. considering that most "laptop speakers" SUCK to begin with.... I guess "free" is "free".

Chaning the soundcard in my laptop ranks right up there with putting a new keyboard in it.

No no, this isn't for the laptop speakers -- this is so I can plug my desktop speakers into the laptop for better sound quality than the basic 2-channel onboard sound offers. Plus, it would even offer better quality through headphones (for example, when I'm watching a DVD during a flight or something). Also, this one does recording as well (it's equivalent in terms of recording quality to the SB Audigy 2 ZS desktop card). I should also mention that my laptop is my primary computer -- yet another reason why this soundcard is a good thing for me.

It's a PCMCIA (PC Card), so it's a matter of installing the drivers, and sliding the card right into the side of the laptop.
