    air compressor/pump

Can anyone recommend a good air compressor/pump? Its gonna be primarily used for keeping tires at the right pressure. I'm pretty sure thats the only reason it's gonna be used for. I bought one of those 12v stick in the cigarette light compressors, but it seems to take forever. I know that I can go to the gas station and use theirs for free, but I have 6 cars in the family and my pops wants me to find a compressor/pump cuz he read an article on how tire pressure effects gas mileage so if you guys/girls could help, it would be much appreciated. Also if I should buy it at kragen/pepboys or if there's an online retailer u can give me the link for. I don't really know what a decent one goes for so good ones per price range would be nice. Thanks again.

Go to your local hardware store and just buy a regular 1.5 gallon Air compressor with a tire inflation kit.

Should run ya about $100 - $120 ... problem solved.

I got a craftsman brand one for christmas. It couldn't be too expensive. I'll get you the model next time I check.

I just bought one at Pepboys (newest circular) for $40 (after $10 rebate). It's a 2.0gallon, 100PSI Coleman powermate VP201.

    I got it to:
    1.air-dust computers
    2.keep bike tires inflated
    3.charge my air cannon

I've seen kits where you can take a standard 5gal propane tank and convert it to hold air. Then you just go to the gas station once in a while and fill it up.

    Here's a Link
    Not bad for $20

or for $20 you can go BUY a 5gal pill tank at wallmart lol.

but, a 5gal pill tank will only hold enough air to air up one tire about half to 3/4's of the way if flat...

Yes, over or under inflated tires will affect gas mileage, more than one way.

more importantly, a properly inflated tire will wear and last much longer than a non-properly inflated tire... this will be where the big savings come from.

Honestly... just spend the money on this one.

Here, for $100... you can get the kit that I was speaking about before from the Home Depot... and it already comes with all the air tools you'll need to inflate the tires.

EDIT: Link won't take you there... do a search for it... (Search for "Husky Easy Air")
