    Aeon Flux

OK...here it is...the review you all wanted to hear:

Aeon Flux is the character portrayed by Charlise Theron.

The year is 2415, and 99% of the population was wiped out 400 years earlier. They survive in a controlled city that protects them from the dangerous outside elements. The city was created by an elite group in control of the city, but sometimes people mysteriously disappear without a trace. A small group of citizens wants to know why. Their coalition has decided to take out the leader and Aeon is selected to perform the task. However, something has gone wrong and she finds that she must get more answers before she can take out the leader, but her group thinks that she ahs betrayed them and the leaders group thinks that he has betrayed them. Together they must figure out how to bring back peace and let society move forward.

The setting is very futuristic and even though rather unrealistic things happen, you accept most of it as scientific advancements that could take place over the next 400 years...however, some are jsut too far-fetched. The storyline is pretty decent and the mystery of the storyline keeps you wondering where it's leading. Charlise does a decent job of acting and looks a lot like "Lara Croft" (Tomb Raider) out there, and the rest of the story is reminiscent of The Island from earlier this year, but with many different and interesting elements. Also a bit reminscent of the Fifth Element (Bruce Willis, et al.)

This one is really hard to characterize, but I think I'll give it a **B** for its mystery, but I think many will get bored with the story's predictableness. Certainly worth renting on video, and maybe at 1/2 price, but probably not worth waiting in lines for a crowded theater to see.

    Thumbs up Aeon Flux

Now for a review from a fan of the Aeon Flux cartoon series on Mtv: A+

This movie absolutely rocked. Charlize Theron was dead on Aeon Flux, with much better curves! They even started the movie with her catching the fly with her eyelashes. She is the uber assassin, rockin' the wicked hot outfits with kung fu ass-kicky goodness, and pulling impossible acrobatic stunts, all in fabulous high heels and lipstick.

For those of you who only caught the cartoon every once in a while, you will like the movie much more. Not only is Aeon's character developed and strengthened with back story and relationships, but the movie has a continuous plot that fills out quite nicely.

(Most of the cartoons were only long enough to include sexy outfits, some blood and guts, spy vs spy intrigue, and enough great assassin action to reveal a curve of breast, but those looking for a plot were often left with that open-mouthed wonder of what the heck just happened here. Perfect for most Mtv viewer's attention spans, but never enough for me.)

Definitely too sexy and violent for young children, highly recommended for fans of the series, and strongly recommended for Charlize Theron fans! If you have never seen or heard of Aeon Flux, I would recommend hitting the movie's official web site http://www.aeonflux.com/ to get the story before heading to the theater; still, I think you will probably enjoy it without any previous experience at all. Yum!

Aeon Flux was good. I'll give it an even B. It's no Matrix, but better than Lara Croft and Catwoman for a storyline, although I think Angelina and Halle looked better in their costumes.

Last week's opening of The Ice Harvest = B-. John Cusack is one of my favorites, but not one of his better movies.

Aon Flux lives in a future where 90% of the world's population is killed through an "industrial disease". The survivors is saved by a cure from the scientist Goodchild, and they all live in a city named Bregin. Despite the utopian appearence of the city, it is highly controlled by the Goodchild regime and there's something wrong with the people. Aeon Flux is part of a rebel community called the monarchians(?) and her mission is to assassinate the Goodchild leader. I thought it was great, the story line was easy to follow and there's alot of exciting stunts. B+.

Oh they also handed out Aeon Flux posters to people after they got out of the movie theater, and a flashy Aeon Flux card. I was in the theater hosted by Rock 105.3? I believe. They got a lot more strict with the camera phones, camera and etc...(well, compared to Pride and Prejudice)

Any reviews on this freestyle skiing & snowboarding flick? Sort of the "Endless Summer"-style movie for snow sports.

Sorry I just turn on my PC.

It played in AMC La Jolla today @10am. I get the Disney movie invitations form the Disney Visa card.

    As for the movie WOW.
Plot Outline: Four kids travel through a wardrobe to the land of Narnia and learn of their destiny to free it with the guidance of a lion messiah.

My two cents: If you read the book by C.S. Lewis' and saw the old carton movie you will not be disappointed with this one. I had been waiting for it ever since it was announced. The amazing special efforts just enhance the movie beautifully and the kids acting, for newcomers, was simply charming and The Witch, wow.

The voice of Aslan the Lion was truly majestic and comforting. Later someone told me that it was Liam Neeson.

You may think of the movie as a 'Lord Of The Ring' for kids.
Now just like the cartoon, the fighting scenes are a bit to violent for small kids, but one good thing about the fighting is that there’s no blood. My 5 year old loved the movie as well as my 14 year old.

I recommend seen this wonderful movie as a family and then discuss it. The music is quite special also, very lush and full, and adds to the movie.

I give it an A+ and think it might have a shot for some Oscars.

Tip: If you wait for the video you'll be missing a lot. Also stay seated through the actor credits - afterwards there's another small scene.

Thanks so much for the review TG! I grew up reading the books and have seen the cartoon and live-action versions (heck, I even saw a Jr. High production of the book about 8 years ago!) of the film and am really looking forward to seeing this version. I'm glad you loved it!

It would be appreciated if next time as soon as you find out/ahead of time, you would please share/post any movie screening info (Day/Date/Time) on the FREE MOVIE PRIZES thread.

Sure thing. I just did not post this one because supposedly they are only for people with the Disney Visa card.
If you have the credit card just check the 'Current Offers --> Disney Entertainment --> FREE Movie Screenings' link on the account summary page.

They usually ask for you to show the card or they will check your name on a list they have. In the last two screenings, Chicken Little and Narnia, they did not ask nor check the names (which is good). So next time I will PM you guys and send you the PDF invitation. Screenings are usually on Saturdays and they do not get full.

P, are you giving two ratings or saying that it's somewhere between these?

and what's L,W&W? (part of the title?)

    SYRIANA

    2 hours

I would probably give this movie a B-.... kind of slow.
Its part Drama, Thriller, Adaptation and Politics/Religion

About how U.S. foreign policy is conducted.

    It is worth watching overrall.

I don't want to say much more about it... i think you need to see it and then you can give your own opinion on it.

    NARNIA

    B+

    2 Hours

    Action/Adventure, Science Fiction/Fantasy and Adaptation
PG for battle sequences and frightening moments

The story has 4 children in it that it revolves around....during WWll in England.

I really don't want to comment alot on it...this is a must movie to be seen.... so many of you here liked Harry Potter...
But i will tell you i loved the little girl Lucy (Georgie Henley) she was just darling and so bubbly and curious about things...

And yes, you really need to see it so you know what L W & W means.... this will be the only way to find out....The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe

I also did jump in this movie...so it had my complete attention....

Also they gave out small and large posters, be sure to get yours when you go....they didn't have alot of them

If you haven't figured it out yet, L W & W stands for The Lion, The Witch, & The Wardrobe, which is part of the official title of the movie (The Chronicles of Narnia: the Lion, the Witch, & the Wardrobe).

    Potter vs. Narnia?

Anyone know if Harry Potter 4 is still number 1 at the box office?

And, if so, do you think Narnia, The L, W, & W will reach #1 this weekend?

As of last weekend, Potter was indeed #1 -- sadly his reign at the top WILL be over this weekend. Narnia will SMOKE Potter's sales.

Definitely! Potter only 'conjured up' $20 million last weekend and I see Narnia pulling at least $50, probably more.
