Pretty interesting so far I guess. I'm going to say goalie either in soccer or ice hockey in the top 5. Getting hit repeatedly by fast moving objects despite the padding seems somewhat brutal. Or maybe boxers? Or does that count?

Lets see what other ideas we can come up with that might show up on the list.

Athletes have bad jobs? They make tons of money for playing a game! I can think of much worse jobs.

I wonder if anyone has figured the amount they make per hour, even considering practice?

Some athletes make their money by putting their bodies through so much punishment that they either die before they can fully enjoy their money, or spend it all trying to keep their broken body alive and without too much pain.

Any offensive lineman in football, really. At BEST you get recognized for one or two good blocks in a game. More normally, you only get noticed when you get burned by a d-liner or a blitz, and you look like a chump if you false start.

"Jock strap washer" and "horse crap shoveler" are probably the worst jobs, I'd think.

It's all about the GLORY though... and the admiration.

Being smart enough to know when to get out of the game is key though... Take your money and invest it well.

Unfortunately... some athletes only went to college to get seen by the scouts and didn't learn the "harsh economics" of life... And they will be tommorrows coaches and assistant trainers and janitors.

Upon further review, I think long snapper is the worst NFL position. You never ever get credited for a good long snap, but if the snap for a field goal or punt is bad... you're the goat.

id say refs, of any sport, has to be the worst...if they do a bad job, they get hell to pay...if they do good, ppl overlook it everytime. no positive recognition at all.

or even if they do make a good call, but it goes against the home team, or pisses off the coach, they still get hell for it. i mean, i don't think your life is ever pleasant when you're a ref.

ah, being an agent isn't that bad. i mean, you're getting a 3-4% cut of the huge contracts these guys are signing (and as high as 10-15% of endorsement deals), and you're not doing any of the work. your client could get paralyzed or killed on the field tomorrow, but you still got paid, so it's all good.

That's not true, I know the good refs from the bad refs. I can see it coming on, when I see Ed Hockley I'm thinking good ref, when I think Steve Javie I think bad ref. I might not write a letter (maybe I should?) but I know and respect the jobs these guys got to do.

yeah but i mean, how many ppl scream out, "your doing a great job!" to the refs during a tight game [without sarcasm]? id say 1 out of 40,000. not very good odds at all...
