I'm filling out an app, and good grief, they have no shame! for pete's sake, go run a credit check on me, but is there really a need to ask for all of my banking account #'s, plus the account #'s for all my loans???

You don't have to disclose that information if you don't want to. A credit check doesn't need all that info so you might want to keep the information private. I wouldn't trust someone with a piece of paper that had my whole identity on it![]()

bank account numbers? Loan #s?Originally Posted by avlena
Man, I've done many apartment applications and that's beyond the line. I would not fill them out. Tell them that you can get a letter from the bank confirming you have accounts, but giving them numbers is insane.
I just ask for ss#, driver's licence #, and current address, and monthly income. I think you will be fine if you leave account numbers off.

Nope! I left them blank, and i'm going to call them to demand to know why they want such info in this era of identity theft. I checked... there's a few other apt apps that i have that ask for banking info too.Originally Posted by nickel

I've filled out a couple of apps and they've wanted some bank info to confirm that I had a bank account, but not the numbers and whatnot. Maybe you could bring in your statements, show them that you do indeed have an account, and leave it be.

Where have you been looking? Merlin and I had a place in Hermosa Beach that required a credit check, but aside from that I guess L.A.'s just gotten a little crazier since Mrs. Kevster and I became homeowners.Originally Posted by avlena

wow. i'm glad you had the sense not to. They really shouldn't ask any of that stuff beyond just checing your credit. Its fine to know you have accounts and stuff, maybe. but loans aren't relevant and neither are bank #s. LA is just a messsed up town, but i live here and never got asked that. Good luck finding a place... Where are you looking?
