    Irvine Cusine

So, I am in irvine, and have been exploring, but what is there to eat? I need some suggestions on places that people like. I eat anything.

    So far:

    OShine
    Oriental Kitchen
    Chipotle

I am looking for cheap decent sushi? Um i like chinese / or thai...
of course I can find Burger king and all that.

Islands, Claim Jumper, Marie Callendars (all on Culver near Target)... Tacos & Co (near UCI on culver), Super Mex (also on Culver... catching onto the trend yet??). Jamba Juice (smoothies) on Harvard & Main. If you're working at or close to UCI, Cornerstone Cafe on campus used to have the best blueberry muffins ever, and damn good stuffed croissants. If you want good vietnamese food, head up the 405N to Westminister, in the Little Saigon area. if you want fake chinese food, PF Changs at the Spectrum, and I think there's also a place in the little marketplace on Bison (just past the 73), but i can't remember what it's called.

If I was back in socal for a day, the first place I would go is Wahoo's Fish Tacos

I believe Apex had a favorite sushi joint out that way. I don't think it was cheap though.

However, if you are ever in Pasadena, cheap and GOOD sushi can be found at Gin Sushi. Gin (the owner) makes some amazing sushi. And on nights that he is there, people buy him shots of sake. He gets lit and starts creating sushi that's not on the menu and giving it away for free. It's a sight to behold (and to taste)!

Also, Irvine, Costa Mesa, and Long Beach have The Yard House and and some locations of Oggi's Pizza & Brewing Co are close by.

Irvine/Tustin Marketplace has good places to eat. Personal favs: Macaroni Grill, Round Robin, BJ's, In n Out.

Good sushi places all along culver. I used to eat at Fuji Kan off Culver and the 5 but my sushi chef moved down the street to Koki's Sushi and Teppan. The address is 15361 CULVER DR,IRVINE,CA,92604. I would definately recommend it. Endu San is an awesome sushi chef, so if you go ask for him. It was voted #1 sushi in OC.

Maki Maki in the Irvine Spectrum has good sushi. Theres also a rotating sushi bar which is cheap, but not quite as good on....17th (or is it 19th??) in Newport off the 55.

Um, drive around. There are tons of places all over. Mimi's Cafe, Island's, Olive Garden, and a lot of other stuff all on Culver near Target. Or try the place on Jamboree and Michelson for Wahoo's, Soup Plantation, CPK, etc.

There is also good (real) Chinese food at Sam Woo's across from the South Coast Plaza, along with other places. Take the 73N, exit bear and make a right.

For Thai I believe there is Thaifoon and I think that's in the Spectrum also.

oh but you must try the sam woo in the plaza across from south coast plaza on bear. the food is delicious and authentic...and best of all....their menus are in english and their waiters don't look at you funny when you ask them questions about the food and don't speak chinese.

www.citysearch.com biaaatch, even though I always end up not being able to pick one and go out driving around trying to pick a place and frustrating the **** out of anyone whos with me, i love it, its a great time
You can say what you want you can pose and front but yo it dont really matter
You can scream you can yell succeed or fail but you'll slowly start to shatter
You can fight you can write you can piss and gripe and try to climb up the ladder
But know this the abyss will swallow and kiss as you become decomposed matter

If you like Mexican food, you should check out Las Fajitas - it's on Barranca Pkwy, between Culver and Jeffery (closer to the Culver side). Best chicken nachos I've ever had

Thanks a ton guys!!! Looks like my wallet will be a bit thin, with all these places to try.

I am actually excited to try out some fish tacos... I noticed a stip mall with heaps of eateries, on Irvine Center Drive, tried out Sushi Boy, it was okay.

Yea I know City Search and all that jazz, I just trust all my apex friends.

And Mike, is that near the US Bank, I think I almost went there.

i've heard good stuff about chipotle too.
we prefer going to the hole-in-the-wall alejandro's at 3AM.

55 south until the freeway ends, then make a right on the first street. (yellow sign, will be on your left side.) interesting place, and its the only *good* 24-hour fast food in the area.

I'd like to second whoever mentioned BJ's. The pizookie (a warm cookie in a pie pan covered with ice cream) is delicious. The owner is a family friend of ours, and the profit from each pizookie goes to benefit Cystic Fibrosis research, as the owner's daughter has the disease. Good food, good cause: good deal.

How is it that no one mentioned George's Thai Bistro on Bristol and Sunflower? Best damn Thai food in all South OC IMHO.

Drink, salad, spring roll, and a big old plate of sumthin' good for $9.00. Plus a handy 1-10 heat scale for all items so you can go hot, not or anywhere in between.

    Can't recomend them enough.
