They were coming into our house through the window in search of water since its freakin hot out. We sprayed Raid along the windows and doors, we also put those little Raid traps by each window. We haven't seen them since.

I've heard Terro works really well. Just put a bit on an index card.

I went to Home Depot and got Terro a few weeks ago and it worked like a charm. Less than 24 hours and they never came back. Much better than the traps or hotels I've gotten before. I used more than I need to though.

Terro rules. they take the sweet poison back and share it with their friends.

The ants you are seeing are scouts. They won't form a trail until they find something worth collecting. It might be the result of a colony inside one of your walls, under the floor, or right outside your house. To get rid of them you need to kill the colony.

I had an ant issue a few months back when we had a lot of rain in LA. I bought Raid spray and two traps and gas-bombed the area they were coming in. I put down traps to get the remaining stragglers. Haven't seen an ant since

Their probably scouts. My dad used to sprinkle some stuff all the way around the house on the outside, right by the wall, and ants would never come in anymore. Some chemical you can buy...not sure the name of it.

Lots of people use Borax that way, although it's kinda messy--coincidentally, it's the main ingredient in Terro...

I just put 3 bottle caps of Terro out earlier today--must be the great ant migration!

ok, i put one of the liquid bait things out on a piece of the box (as stated) and ants started coming, but they're not congregating around the bait. am i just being impatient?

edit: ok, well, i placed them around all the major ant trails i saw outside around the house and they were all congregating around it. but the gross thing is, i don't want that happening RIGHT NEXT TO MY BED.

i think i'm just gonna use elmer's glue and seal up that crack they were coming from unless there's a better idea.

It's gross but it's worth it. Ants will find a way. One summer it was through some cracks in my kitchen counter top. This summer it was through the floorboards at the edge of the wall. The Terro trap I put out initially was eaten up in less than an hour so I laid 2 more traps and refilled them. Less than 24 hours...all the ants were gone.

is it supposed to look all nasty and infested like this?:

cuz there'll always be those scouts that don't eat and roam around, right? i feel so itchy right now. i sprayed raid all around to kind of keep a perimeter. tomorrow, if they're still around, i'm gonna go spray 'em all and use glue to patch up that hole.

did you put the Terro liquid out for them to eat? they should be flocking to it and then in a day or so - no more ants.

yeah. i put a couple drops of the liquid bait on that piece of foil. that's why they're flocking there.

ok. i was just worried i had a weird strain of ants in CA that loved eating this stuff and actually multiplied.

If you live in an apartment. See if your landlord will call pest controll for you and pay for it. That is what I did. Haven't had a problem since!!
Since it has been so hot. they are living in the walls to cool off. Then your house is cooler so they come in and try to find food. Yes mine were coming in by my bed too!! I had an open water bottle and they decided to go swimming too. it was gross. I know how you fell when you say you feel all itchy I felt that way too. YUCKY!!

    GOOD LUCK!!

I do the same thing your dad used to. Lay it all around the outside of the house. Keeps everything out; spiders, ants, all kinds of creepy crawlies. I use a product called diazinion, which you can get in a liquid or powder form.

Don't let the kids get into it when it's laying outside, though. Bad experiences to follow...

I've used this solution (made up a proportionally smaller amount) and it worked very well.

well, it seems like they went away. haven't seen any come in since.

i bought a can of this

and sprayed it outside the house. the ants walked right up to it, sniffed around, and walked right on over it. what a jip!

    otherwise, things have been good.

never used the canned stuff, but the terro liquid always does the job.

    glad it worked for you.

The other thing you can do is put lemon juice to stop them. I moved into a dorm room with a bathroom, and i thought wow this is so sweet.
The next morning after they turned the water up and i left the window next to my bed open, i woke up covered in hundreds of ants!!!
So i was like dang, showing and beating up ands by the dozens... The cleaning lady comes by, sees me, laughs, and then says lemon juice scares them. So i rubbed lemon wedges around my window seals and they never came back.

you know, there are some ant trails outside with TONS of ants on the trail. i've put out the terro liquid bait several times a day for a couple of days and the number of ants never thins. is there something i'm missing?

This stuff is AWESOME, if expensive.

Squirt some of it in the ant trail. They'll go nuts for it. For hours. Then... having drank their fill... they march off, never to return.

Well I would think you want to make sure they aren't coming into your house at all. So that's done right? Outside outside...man...I don't think you'll have enough Terro to commit genocide...maybe I'm wrong
