    Unlocked cell phone question

If a cell phone is unlocked it can be used on many systems (Tmobile, ATT, Cingular) but does it matter what it was originally programmed to work on? For instance, will all of them be able to surf the web on all systems or is it specifically just able to use the phone and not anything else the system has to offer (text messaging etc)?

You'd probably have to configure GPRS / MMS settings manually and such, but otherwise the phone should work just like it would if it were locked to the provider.

SMS will work just fine though.

SMS (Short Message Service) enables you to send queries as text messages over your mobile phone or device and easily get precise answers to your questions.

It is pretty easy to configure the phone. The problem is that the way to do it varies from phone to phone.

So it varies from phone to phone? I guess if I want like a motorola razr v3 for the old AT&T wireless system is it possible to configure it? I'm wondering if there is a good nokia pphone someone can recommend.
