Somedays you just cant win. Everything you do just ends up screwed up in some way. For example, who in the hell has ever found out that the calendar they relied on was in actuality wrong! I am not talking about looking at the wrong month, wrong day, or wrong year. Rather, I am talking about you actually look at the right day but the calendar is wrong!
I discovered a few hours ago that this actually happened to me. Here is what happened. A few months ago I saw that Sigur Ros was coming into San Diego and bought tickets for my wife and I to go see them. I couldnt think of anything that was near there, but checked my calendar anyway as the Jewish High Holidays change every year. Sure enough, it showed the day of the concert as being completely clear, but Rosh Hoshana was listed on the 4th. Given that every calendar I have ever looked at shows the holidays starting on the night they start, I figured everything was good and bought the tickets.
I was doing a favor for my mother by watching my sister and happened to mention my upcoming trip back home to Florida. She asked me when I was going to get back and I told her, explaining that I was back a few days before the holidays...in fact, I was getting back on the 1st so I would be home for 3 days before everything started. My mother looks at me and says, NO, the holiday starts on the night of the 3rd. I simply state that is not possible as I checked the calendar to make sure that nothing conflicted with a concert we wanted to see and that was the 3rd, so I knew it couldnt be then...but I might be remembering wrong.
I get home and check the tickets...sure enough, they are for the 3rd. I look on another calendar...sure enough, so is Rosh Hashana. The other calendar was wrong.
Now I have to figure out what to do. I have one of the most important holiday in my religion on the same night as a concert with unrefundable tickets. They are only in town for one night and this is the first concert we are going to in over a year. THIS SUCKS.
On top of which, the rest of the day was just one annoyance after another. A friend and I were going to the fish store....his wife wanted us to pick up something for him down at the mall which was probably 12 miles south of where we were going. Not that big a deal except for 3 facts....due to the lines it ended up taking an HOUR out of our time to go pick up this thing. I should also mention that we got some strange looks for being two guys standing without any women in the line in the Juniors department. Which leads to the second fact.....she asked him to go because she had a coupon that would expire at 12pm. Only problem, it expired at 12pm on FRIDAY. Finally, in just a true application of Murphy's Law...15 minutes before we arrived at the store that was our #1 destination...their power went out so we couldnt even look to see what we wanted. (Yes....this could have been a scene from a National Lampoon's Vacation movie)
Plus, the standard fun associated with a sister who doesnt want to listen and blames you for not being able to go to her dance....but in all fairness, other than not listening and telling lies, she was pretty well behaved. She had me go into her email account to see an email from our father. WHen I logged in it had over 500 emails in it........375 which were notifications from Yahoo about Shrub. (For some reason my sister, who is mentally retardeed, loves Bush. Same way she loved Clinton before him. Bush sr. before him. Reagan before him.) Another 75 emails were "Thank yous" from either whitehouse.gov or georgebush.gov for her daily correspondence. I kid you not.
Yep, it was one of those days.

dont worry whatever holiday it is celebrate in the day, and not the night

Since it seems that Rosh Hashanah runs October 3-5 in 2005, sell the 10/3/05 SD tickets on eBay. Buy tickets for the 10/6/05 show at The Joint in Vegas. Yes, it's a bit of a drive or a quick flight, but not as bad as going to Europe to see sigur rós.
