    Little Rain, but CRAZY Lightning!

This isn't as bad as when my brother and I drove to Philadelphia, but it's pretty crazy. Is anyone else in So Cal getting this much electricity and noise?

My friend is at school in La Mirada, and I'm at home in HB. We both saw one flash at the same time while we were on the phone. That's narly, and huge.

I was at the zoo today and was near the gorillas when I heard thunder. They play sound effects like birds and jungle noises so I thought it was that I heard, but then it started to rain! The sunset was gorgeous! Lots of red in it.

This is about the time when I pop in my Doors CD and cue 'Riders on the Storm'. Good lightning music.
    I think over again
    My small adventures, my fears.
The small ones that seemed so big,
For all the vital things I had to get and to reach.

And yet there is only one great thing, the only thing:

To live to see the great day that dawns,
And the light that fills the world.

Keep in mind this is my first try at this sort of thing and I was not very steady holding the camera.

Got both the rain and lightning here in Studio City/Burbank now. When I talked to Shawn last night, I didn't see anything.

I used to live there, on Wright street. We would get a lot of thunderstorms and lightning. And as a plus the wind was no slouch either.

    nice pics!

i'm in west LA...not too many lightnings around here. but last night, while the wife and i were having dinner, she was complaining of "bright lights" in the horizon. we forgot that a storm was coming in... she thought it was someone taking pictures...and i thought she was paranoid. and that's my story.

I was in downtown L.A. in one of the high rises and it was great. It rained enough to make puddles on the ground.

It rained pretty good after I got home though. And the thunder actually woke me up a few times.

We got the worst at about 1:30- 2:00 this morning. Usually we lose power when that happens- the next block over went out, but mine stayed on. I wasn't able to get any picures- nice job brainsmile! The hair on my arms was standing up just before one and the crash was almost immediately after the flash- set off every alarm in the neighborhood. I like these things- they dont' happen very often out here. We usedt to get them in the summer in Colorado.

I checked to make sure the references were spot on before I opened my big mouth, but I thought I was right. I live in the "Lightning Capital of the World". Which means out of the 20 million strikes in the US, we get 20% of them. Yes, it's wild, and YES it's loud. I have seen more stuff get hit than you can imagine including the ocean many times. It's pretty badass, but I have felt the ground shocks twice. Not badass.
PS - stunning pics Brainsmile. those rock!

Yeah, I can remember a few boomers when I was growing up there. (I also remember news of people being struck on the beach.... ). Here in the midwest, we get some pretty spectacular storms from time to time.
