What the heck is a humidor bag? Do they actually put a hydrometer in it?

A humidor bag is basically a ziploc-style bag with a humidifier in it. There is no hydrometer in the bag. The humidifier can be nothing more than a small cartridge with porous/spongy material that you wet with water. It then gradually releases water vapour into the bag to keep the cigars from drying out. It takes quite a while to rehydrate a dried-out cigar, so a humidor is useful as a cheap method in maintaining them.

Of course, if all they gave you was the little humidifier, they'd lose the opportunity to print their advertising on the side of a nice big ziploc-style bag.

I own a humidor. And knowing what procedures I had to go through to properly cure it(to hit that perfect 70% humidity was a pain). I don;t see how they would know how much wateryou ended up putting into their sponge(for a bag). That's why I was so confused about the hum bag. seems kinda risky to put any good cigars into(unless you really don't care to much about your cigars)

Realrammstein, you're right, but these are lowcost approaches for small quantities on the same scale as those little humidifiers you see included with some pipe tobacco.

    GOT APEX INGENUITY MOMENT:

Use the bag to store your backup inkjet cartridges to keep them from drying out. The item that you want is the humidifier because it is much nicer than simply putting in a small damp piece of paper that will get moldy as the fungi dine on the cellulose fibers. A real humidifier cartridge will contain some sort of porous inert material and mold won't grow in it unless you touch it and put skin oil into the material.

Wel, I still consider myself a non-smoker(only have smoked 2 cigars all year). However I do have 4 very nice cigars, at the ready
